Hi, we're Kurt and Melissa! We hope you take a few minutes to read through our profile. We know it's hard to get to know someone on paper, but we hope it'll be the first step in making a lifelong connection with you!
Dear Birth Parent
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our profile. We hope that you'll be able to learn a little bit about us and see some of the things that define us as individuals, as a couple, and as a family. Before reading further, we want you to know a few things. First, we admire your decision to make an adoption plan for your child, and as adoptive parents, we will make sure your child always knows how that decision demonstrates your unconditional love for them. Second, we believe that all children are a precious gift from the Lord, and we will treasure your child as such. Third, we are incredibly honored that you would consider us as adoptive parents. We are so humbled by this process and understand what a privilege it is to be entrusted with another person's child. And, finally, we've been praying for you, your family, and your baby, and we hope to get to meet you soon!
With love in Christ,
Melissa & Kurt
We met in 2008 through mutual friends. Our friendship slowly grew into love, and we were married in 2010. Our free time consists of spending time together in a variety of settings - with friends and family sharing a meal, in fellowship with our church community, at a sporting event or concert, taking long walks outside, or traveling together to new places. Our first several years of marriage were a joyous time, but there were sorrowful moments as we tried to grow our family. In September 2016, our lives were forever changed when we were blessed with our son, Jack, through adoption. He is an answered prayer and such a joy to us in our lives. We firmly believe that the Lord is always in the process of redeeming broken situations, and we are excited to see how He will continue to do so on this journey.
About Melissa (by Kurt)
Melissa is a godly woman and an answer to my prayers. She is patient, loving, kind, intelligent, honest, hard-working, and loyal. She has such a big heart and is the best mom to our son. She loves and nurtures him so well, and it is amazing to see her care so sacrificially for him every day. She is the most selfless person I know. She'll do anything for her family and makes sacrifices for people she doesn't even know. She wants nothing more than to care for others and to help people in need. She can always make me laugh and has a great sense of humor. Whether she is telling a joke, dancing around the house in her pajamas, or talking in funny voices, Jack and I are always smiling and laughing when we're around her.
Fun Facts About Melissa: She's half Chinese, so I like to call her my "panda bear." Her favorite food is Mexican and her favorite dessert is a donut!
About Kurt (by Melissa)
Kurt is a faithful friend and everything that I've prayed for in a husband and in a father. He loves the Lord, he deeply values having good relationships with family and friends, and he is intelligent, hard-working, and fun-loving all at the same time. He's got a great sense of humor, and he knows how to make us laugh when we're feeling sad. He also loves sports and is so excited to get our kids involved in athletics. He recognizes the value in learning, practicing, and playing sports, especially as a team. Most importantly, we're a great team together. I know people say it about their spouses all the time, but I truly have a best friend in Kurt. It has been such a joy to watch him with our son. He is such a patient, kind-hearted, and loving dad!!
Fun Facts About Kurt: He ran with the Olympic torch in 1996. He's lived in Germany and Spain. And he's played golf at more than 50 courses around the world!
Jack was born on August 23, 2016. He is full of so much joy, laughter, and energy, and he keeps us on our toes every moment of every day. He's a curious little guy that loves exploring outside any chance he can get, and he has the biggest smile and zest for life. He will make an amazing big brother someday!
Jack's birth mom is an incredible woman who loves Jack very much. We flew to meet her a few weeks after Jack was born. The plan had been to meet her before the birth, but Jack decided to arrive earlier than expected. We saw her again a few weeks later at placement day. Since that time, we have stayed in contact with her via text and video chat. We want Jack to always know her and for her to be a part of his life. We think it's so important for him to be proud of his background and his adoption story.
Fun Facts About Jack: He is part Filipino, African American, and Caucasian. He loves to play with balls and already has an arm like a major league pitcher. His favorite toy is a car, and he's never met a dog he didn't like.
Our Faith And Our Families
Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the most important thing in our lives and in our marriage. It is our prayer that our children will one day know him as their Lord and Savior as well. We will always pray with and for our children and we will strive to raise them in a Christian household that teaches them about grace, mercy, and unconditional love.
Family is also very important to us. We both come from big families, and we hope to continue the tradition with our family! We both know what it is to be loved, cared for, respected and treasured because of our parents. Their love and support through the ups and downs in our lives have been amazing, and we can't wait to give the same to our children. We have 9 nieces and nephews, and they're all so excited to have a new baby in the family! Both of our parents are also very supportive of us in our adoption journey, and they are terrific grandparents to our son.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile. We have been praying for you, your family, and your baby, and we would love to get the chance to meet you. If our paths don't cross, please know that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." -Proverbs 3:5,6
