Thank you for taking time to read a little about us. We are thinking of you as you navigate this uncertain time in your life. We can't thank you enough for considering us to parent your child. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to share a little about us.
Dear Expectant Mom
We are grateful to have this opportunity to speak to you. Though we can't truly imagine what you're currently going through, we know you undoubtedly have a selfless spirit and a huge capacity to love; otherwise you wouldn't be considering this option for your child. There are many decisions to be made for sure, so here is a brief introduction to who we are and what we care about. We hope you may see parts of our lives that you desire for your child.
About Jim, Written By Lindsay
I met Jim seven years ago this fall. Our first date was to a Mexican food restaurant, and I remember leaving the restaurant thinking he's a pretty great guy. Easy conversation, we both enjoyed enchiladas and a margarita. The date was pretty short though. I texted my sister on the way home and she suggested I send him a text to thank him for dinner and say I had a great time. I'm so glad I did.....he didn't think I was interested and wasn't planning to reach back out.
We went out the following weekend, and a few weeks later I knew he was pretty special when he won an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" contest on our third date. Up until that point I had only seen a very punctual, straight-laced "Gentleman Jim," and seeing how funny he could be proved he was the whole package.
Jim is a twin, and he and his brother are the oldest of four kids. He is the most consistent person I've met. Jim runs before work most mornings, often taking our dogs with him. He has completed five marathons since we've been married, three in Chicago and two in Texas. Jim rarely complains, worries, or gets upset - all traits he learned from his parents. He's been an attorney for 17 years. Jim loves soccer and college football. He's fun-loving, genuine and kind. People often say, "Your husband is so nice," and they're right. He will make an incredible dad.
About Jim, in his own words:
- I like eclectic music and the outdoors
- I like to play golf even though I'm no good at it
- I want to travel to the mountains of Chile, and one day experience a World Cup soccer game
- My nieces and nephews like to beat me up
- I worked on a ranch in Australia for two months during college
About Lindsay, Written By Jim
Lindsay and I met in the fall of 2010 and I think our second date was the best. We went to a nice dinner and then went to a place to play old-fashioned games like Pac-Man, Gallaga, and giant Jenga, where we really had a chance to get to know each other. After a year and a half of dating, we married during her Spring Break (Lindsay is an elementary school teacher).
Lindsay is the perfect balance for me. While I like to take my time making decisions, once the choice is made, Lindsay takes over to get stuff done. That might be one of the reasons she excels at her job. She recently won "Teacher of the Year" and has been nominated multiple times.
Lindsay is very caring and loves to spoil our nieces and nephews. One of our nieces loves coming to visit us because she enjoys hanging out with Aunt Lindsay, especially at the pool in the summer or doing arts and crafts at the house. Lindsay worked for the airlines before becoming a teacher, and traveling is something we enjoy doing together. Taking our children places around the U.S. and the world when they are old enough is a goal for both of us. Lindsay is beautiful and talented and will be a great mom!
About Lindsay, in her own words:
- I have a younger sister, Courtney, and we grew up in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas
- I love to read and take naps in the summer
- I like seeing ballets and musicals
- My favorite ways to exercise are jogging and swimming. I completed one marathon and several half marathons
- I love to spend time with my girlfriends, nieces, and nephews
Winston and Nolan are the joys of our days. Our hearts are fuller and our home is noisier (and more messy!) since the pups joined us. As much laughter and joy as they provide, we know a child in our home would bring exceptionally more joy. And as a bonus, our dogs are incredibly good with kids. They nearly jump out of their skin when the neighbors' grandkids come over to play fetch with them. I don't know who's having more fun-the dogs or the kids.
Between the two of us, we have seven nieces and nephews, ranging in age from 6 months to 10 years old. Lauren, Connor, and Caroline live in South Carolina and love Disney World and visiting us in Texas. Sallie and Sarah Frances live in Georgia and could not be any sweeter, especially towards each other. And finally, Chase and Gaines live in Texas and love the outdoors, football, and camping. This summer we will have the second annual "cousin camp" in Georgia.
We live in an older neighborhood with beautiful trees, unique homes, and friendly neighbors. Our home was built in 1947 and we've recently remodeled the kitchen, tv room, and patio. We love updating our home while keeping its character and charm. At the end of the street is a great park with room for soccer and t-ball teams to practice, and a jungle gym for the little ones. We are also members of a club with a huge pool and tennis courts, only one mile away. Here kids can swim on the swim team, learn tennis and golf, and attend summer day camps.
As we've waited for the right birth family to come along, we have grown closer in our faith and understand that God is in control of everything. He has his arms around you and your child, and He will guide you to the right decision. Thank you for your bravery and for giving families like us the opportunity to be parents one day.
