David + Patricia

Thank you for considering us! We are excited to tell you about our family. We have a growing desire to be parents. We have strong, loving relationships with our nieces and nephews and know that we will be able to provide the same for our child. We recognize that the decision to make an adoption plan is a difficult one and we believe that you are so brave to go through this process. We can't fully imagine what it is like for you and we respect what you are doing for your child. We are praying that you find the best family, whether it is with us or with another family. We are so appreciative of all that you are doing!

How We Met

'How We Met' Image

We met in our church singles group over 10 years ago where we discovered we both had a love for hockey (which is not like most of our friends). Our first date was watching a hockey game, the first of many we have watched together. Our love for each other grew from that!

We dated for a year and a half before we were engaged and, soon after that, were married. We were married in the same church where we met, surrounded by family and friends. Our wedding reception was at The Gladney Center for Adoption (who knew that it would be the beginning of our story with adoption). We went on our honeymoon to Puerta Vallerta, Mexico for a week. It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxing on the beach (an activity we both have come to LOVE over the years).

We have been married for 8 years and continue to grow more in love every day with each other through the ups and downs of life. Our marriage is centered on Christ and we love and respect each other. We are best friends and partners in this life.

After traveling to France, Mexico, and across the U.S., we were ready after 4 years of marriage to start a family. However, we did not know that our journey would go differently than we had planned. We were unable to get pregnant, despite fertility treatments. This was one of the most difficult things we had dealt with in our lives. We desire so strongly to be parents and to raise our children in a godly, loving home filled with family traditions, music, learning, and a love of hockey!

About David (according To Patricia)

'About David (According to Patricia)' Image

David was born and raised in New Mexico and loves everything about it from green chili, to the Native American influence, to the scenic outdoors of the mountains. Since moving to Texas over 13 years ago, he has become accustomed to how life is here! He enjoys going to sporting events and eating great food (BBQ). He still has yet to own a pair of cowboy boots, but he has been caught a time or two listening to some country music.

David brings so much joy to my life on a daily basis. What I love about him is that he has a constant love of learning (which I am told he gets from his dad). He loves to learn really anything new about science, history, electronics, cooking, baking, woodwork, construction, you name it. He is extremely patient, like his mom, with projects and does not really feel satisfied if he doesn't have one in process.

He is fun-loving and is always finding ways to make me laugh. He will often sing as he is doing things (as if he is narrating) even though he is not a singer. He is overall a very well-rounded guy. He loves movies, cars, boats, and has an artistic side (fixes things, makes pottery, can play a didgeridoo). He loves being near water whenever possible, which came from his summer visits to Long Island, NY to visit his grandparents and work at the local boatyard.

He is one of most giving people I know. He would give the shirt off his back and keeps money on hand to help a person in need when he comes across one. He frequently serves others by helping them move and troubleshooting computer/printer issues. He loves spending time with family and friends. David loves anything electronic and knows more than I could ever know. This is why he naturally is very good at selling copy machines as his job. He enjoys helping customers with technology that makes their jobs easier.

David is a true leader of our family. He manages our finances and is great at making decisions for what is best for us. He has drawn me closer to Christ and shown me how to trust Christ every day. Through job changes, infertility, family issues, and financial hardships, he has faithfully been by my side. He loves me more than words can ever say and he thinks of me in every decision he makes. He continues to pour into our marriage daily (makes breakfast for me, calls/texts me at the start and end of every day to say he loves me, and asks how my day is going). He gives me quality time and focused attention that builds our marriage.

I have no doubt that David is going to be the most loving, compassionate father to our child.

About Patricia (according To David)

'About Patricia (According to David)' Image

Patricia is kind, friendly, compassionate, and loving. She has all the perfect qualities I could have ever asked for. What I love about Patricia is her kind spirit. She genuinely cares for everyone and her heart pours out for people she has never met.

Patricia has a lot of interests. She likes music, singing, fashion, dancing, camping, shopping, and spending quality time with family and friends. Patricia is a social butterfly. She loves being around people and living life with others. Patricia volunteers at our church in the children's music ministry where she helps to lead kids in singing praise and worship songs. Some even involve sign language, which she knows well. Patricia has also been in 4 Broadway musicals at our church. She loves to sing and to perform.

Patricia is a Speech Pathologist and works with children with special needs as well as those that have a hard time saying their Rs. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a Speech Pathologist and has always had a heart for helping other people. She continually looks for ways to help whenever she can. The word "no" really isn't in her vocabulary. She always strives for perfection in everything she does. This is evident in her work and how she is constantly striving to do better to help her patients. It is so encouraging to hear how she has helped a patient to be able to communicate or eat solid food for the first time in their lives.

Patricia is going to be a great parent. She is so patient and encouraging with our nieces and nephews. I can only imagine how much more so she will be with our children.

Our Four-legged Family

We have 3 indoor cats named Charlie, Ellie, and Socks. They are 7 years old. They love to cuddle, take naps, and play.

Our Church Small Group

We have been meeting weekly with a group of married couples from our church for the past 8 years. We study the Bible, pray for each other, have game nights, family nights, and serve in the community together. They are family to us!

How Adoption Has Influenced Us

We have been touched by adoption in more ways than one: David's brother was adopted at 9 months of age, Patricia's best friend from college was adopted as an infant, David's brother-in-law was adopted at birth, and another couple in our church couples group adopted twice through Gladney. The more we talk about our adoption journey, the more we hear of people who were adopted or have adopted. We have already been so blessed through adoption and are looking forward to adopting our own child.
