Hi! I'm Minelva. I'm excited about growing my family through open adoption. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you.
I admire and I'm humbled by your courage and strength in taking this difficult step to choose adoption for your baby. I hope that this glimpse into my life will help you understand who I am as well as the love your child will receive from my family and me. I respect you for your courage and true love of your child during this process. I offer you my support as you travel this journey. It is my sincere wish that you would find peace and confidence as you determine what is best for you and your child. I am honored that you are reading my letter and looking forward to getting to know you and to learn about your hopes for the future for you and your child. I would love to share this journey of open adoption with you and your child. If I end up being lucky enough to bring your child into my home, I will spend the rest of my life loving your child, taking care of him/her, and giving him/her a safe place in the world where he/she will know that the decision you made was out of love and selflessness.
I like to think of myself as a loving, intelligent, responsible, adventurous and humorous person, and unless my friends and family have been lying to me, I'm not far off the mark!
I am compassionate and an easy-going person with strong family values. A few activities I enjoy are hanging out with friends, going to movies, taking little day trips, family BBQs, visiting the museums, zoos and botanical gardens, riding my bike along the river and foothill trails, bowling, live music and playing with my cats. My friends know they can come to me to brighten their days, and in return they are a tremendous support system to me. I have nine nieces and six nephews and I love them more than anything in this world. I helped raise my nieces and nephews and they have brought a lot of joy and happiness into my life. I talk with them all the time and I make sure that they know that if they ever need someone to talk to, I'm always available. When my nephew wanted to try out for the debate team but he was very nervous talking in front of people, I had a mock audience in which I invited my friends over to my house so that he could practice. Or when my niece wanted to try out for the track team. Every morning I would meet her and we practiced running until she was confident to try out for the team. Thank goodness it only took two weeks because I don't think my legs could survive any longer! All of my nieces and nephews know that they can always depend on me. I find common interests that I share with each one of them.
Becoming a mother will be the most amazing experience for me. I have so much love in my heart and I can't wait to share it with my child.
What I Do For Fun
I can imagine spending playtime with my child. It's the story time, baking goodies together and spending outdoor time (going to the park, riding our bikes and just spending time together.) Or, having our famous slumber parties where we watch movies, plays lots of games and have pizza, popcorn, etc. On rainy days... when we pretend to go camping and tell stories or just talk. At the end of the day... we have "our special time together" where we share our thoughts together before we go to sleep. In winter, after a snowstorm... we go outside and make a snowman together and decorate it.
All these things and more are memories that I will always treasure and never forget.
Meet Tigger & Midnyte
I adopted Tigger and Midnyte from the local veterinarian. I remember the morning when I got the call that they found a stray cat (Tigger) that needed a home and without hesitation I was on my way to get him. A year later I received an identical call regarding (Midnyte) and once again I was on my way to get him. Tigger and Midnyte are friendly and very playful. They love children and when my nieces and nephews visit they enjoy spending time with them.
My home is a placed shared by many, especially children. It's the perfect setting for a child to be happy and explore. I live in a diverse residential neighborhood, walking distance from a park that features children's playgrounds, dog runs, basketball and tennis courts, and a football field (doubling as a soccer pitch). I can already picture myself pushing my little one on the swings or going down on the sliding boards. Afterwards, we can ride our bikes along the bike path in the park. On a nice spring day, my little one and I can take a leisurely 10-minute walk where we can have a nice picnic sitting on the grass enjoying the scenery.
I Love My Career
I have been a middle school teacher for more than eight years, and have been very successful in what I do. I've been a Middle School Teacher teaching Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts to 6th -8th graders. I'm responsible for their academic as well as emotional behavior. I love my career because I inspire students not only academically, but also personally. I love spending each day helping children. Knowledge is power and I want to hand the gift of knowledge to my students. I wake up every day smiling, knowing I can grow, influence a life, love my students and love what I do. On the weekday I'm off by 3:00 pm and I have every weekend off. I'm also off for the months of July and August and the first week of September for a total of nine weeks every summer. My company is a big supporter of family values, so I feel fortunate to have so much support.
I am blessed to come from a large, supportive, and loving family. My parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephew and my extended family are overjoyed with excitement to welcome another child into the family, and can't wait to spoil him/her and spend lots of playtime together. I am the fifth of six children, or as my family likes to call me the "baby girl" of the family. My mom and sisters have already informed me that they can't wait to go shopping for their new grandchild/niece or nephew. My father and brothers told me that they can't wait to do the "official welcome barbeque" for their new grandbaby/niece or nephew. My nieces can't wait to have my child join us in one of our famous "slumber parties". My nephews are threatening to share with my child all of my "lovely childhood pictures" of me. You know, the ones that you don't really want anyone to see. They have such a sense of humor. My child will have so much love from all the people in my life. Everyone supports my decision to adopt and are eager to welcome my child.
My Thoughts On Parenting
I take the responsibility of parenting seriously and will offer my child a stable home and a tremendous amount of love. I will ensure that his/her life will be full of laughter and fun and will be surrounded by a supportive and loving family and friends. I was raised with integrity, self-confidence and strong family ties. I looked forward to passing these important values down to this beautiful child.
My Wish For You
Although I don't know you, I hope this letter has told you a little more about me. I have been blessed in so many ways and I hope that I will soon be blessed with a child to love and cherish as my own. I'm far from being perfect but if you choose me for your child, I would love the opportunity to connect with you and learn about your dreams for the future. Please know that I will be praying for you and your baby during this difficult decision.
I promise to...
o Love them unconditionally and always be there to offer my support and encouragement.
o Shower them with hugs and kisses and tell them every day how much I love them.
o Be there when they stumble, pick them up when they fall down and wipe away their tears.
o Most of all, I promise to remind them every day how much I love them.
