Hi! We are Megan and Mike, and we hope this profile is just the first step in illustrating the type of family we are, and the love and life we could give your child. We look forward to getting to know each other better, and will keep you in our prayers as you make your decision for the life that you envision for your child.
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We want to express our appreciation for who you are and the tough decision you have to make, no matter what the outcome of that decision is. We are not assuming to know exactly how it feels to be in your shoes, but we do understand that this must be a difficult time for you and you are probably experiencing a wide range of emotions. We want you to know that you are not alone, and we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
We hope learning a little about us will help to start building a connection, because we have heard that once you start communicating and getting to know each other better, the process becomes easier and less scary going through it together.
Megan & Mike
Although we grew up only 5 miles from one another, we did not meet until after college. We were introduced by friends about 13 years ago and have been together ever since. Our initial connection was sparked from our mutual love to be silly, laugh and have fun. As we got to know each other better we continued to find that we had much more in common.
We always live in the moment and enjoy life, no matter what we are doing, as long as we're together. We have fun listening to our favorite band in concert or singing along to music as we clean our house. Sometimes we are happy just relaxing on the couch watching a movie or a new hit TV show. And we love taking family road trips upstate or traveling internationally, but we are also totally content going for a hike in the local preserves on a beautiful day.
We quickly realized that family is extremely important to both of us. We were both raised to be very family-oriented, and we are still very close with our parents and have great relationships with our siblings. We also cherish each moment we spend with our extended family, especially as the family continues to grow. A little over a year after our wedding, we were overjoyed to welcome our daughter, Isabella, into our loving family.
Being parents has been an amazing experience for both of us and we always knew that we would want to have more children, which is one of the reasons we have decided on adoption. It takes our breath away when we see all the love and joy that our close and extended families have for each other, and we would feel blessed to be able to give your child the opportunity to be a part of that love and joy. Last but not least, Isabella can't wait to be a big sister and help care for her little brother or sister!
Mike (according To Megan)
Mike is an amazing dad, and the perfect partner for me as we continue to learn and share the joys and responsibilities of raising children together. He has always been very much involved and dedicated to the teaching and nurturing of our family. He is wonderfully creative when it comes to parenting, which is a unique and helpful quality as a parent and partner.
It makes sense that Mike is such an incredible husband and father since he gets along with everyone and has a wonderful way with people, which shows in his ability to comfort Isabella when she's cranky, to make me laugh during the toughest of times, and to make new friends wherever he goes.
When I first met Mike, I was quickly attracted to his tough and humorous exterior but fell in love with his sensitivity and caring for others and he typically puts others before himself. My love for him continues to grow everyday as he takes care of Isabella and me, and always puts his family first.
Megan (according To Mike)
Megan is the most kind, loving and considerate person I know. From the moment we met, I knew she was the one for me. Not only is Megan the love of my life, but she is the rock of our family. She is also a great organizer, keeping us busy and on track for everything, whether it is Isabella's ice-skating lessons, softball games, play dates, or our family get-togethers.
And then there is everything required for school and homework - Megan values education and believes learning is done in the home, as well as in school. She stays very much involved with Isabella's education and is the President of the Parent Teacher Organization at the school.
As much as I love Megan as a wife, my love for her deepened as I watched her become a mother. One of my greatest joys is seeing my two girls hug, laugh and love one another and I can't wait to bring a new child into our home to shower with all of our love and affection as well.
The best way to describe Isabella is through one sentence we have often heard from many different people: "She brings joy to everyone that she meets."
Isabella has always been a sweet little girl and has the most positive view on life - she will find fun and happiness in any situation no matter who she is with. She is also very smart, adventurous and, most of all, loving. She can't wait to have a little sister or brother and continues to make a list of all of her toys she wants to give to him/her!
Our Home And Neighborhood
We moved into our home 4 years ago and could not imagine living anywhere else. When we purchased our home, we made sure that it had plenty of space in order to grow our family and to entertain adults and kids because we love hosting dinner parties. Our favorite thing to do around the house during the warmer months is having BBQs and eating and lounging on our patio. During the rest of the year, we will spend cold nights indoors where we make s'mores right in the fireplace in our living room.
There are so many things that we love about the town we live in. Here are just a few examples:
- Our neighbors are amazing, and we have become very close with a number of families around town. It's great just taking a walk around the block and always running into multiple friends and their kids.
- We are within walking distance of two playgrounds, the beach and local dock, a library, many restaurants, and a movie theater
- Some of our favorite places to go is the village pool and the local nature preserve that has a historic castle and miles of hiking trails and beach front
- We are less than 30 minutes from a major city and all it has to offer, such as the zoos, museums, sports teams, restaurants, and historical sites
