We are so excited to introduce ourselves to you and give you a window into our lives. We are a tight knit, happy and resilient bunch that wants to add another baby into the mix. We will use our profile and letter to tell you more about each of us, what we enjoy, and the home we will provide the new member of our family.
Ben and Ashley met in college and got married several years later. We have lived in Virginia ever since and are excited to raise a family here. We are happily married (8 years!) and enjoy spending time together. We like hiking, traveling, and going out to our favorite Mexican restaurants. One thing we love doing is sharing a good laugh. Usually it is Ben cracking jokes and Ashley groaning! When we started dating, we talked about how we wanted to have a big family. Our daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 2014 severely premature. For health reasons, Ashley's doctors have advised us not to have any more biological children. We want to grow our family, and we hope you are a part of that plan.
Ben was raised in a loving, tight knit family. The oldest of four siblings, his family moved around the world for his dad's job with the Department of Defense. After graduating from college, Ben earned his MBA and now works in business. In this spare time, Ben is a private pilot and enjoys taking time most weekends to fly around exploring where we live. He loves being Elizabeth's dad and can't wait to add another little one to the family.
Ashley was raised an only child to doting, loving parents in Florida. Her parents were both animal lovers, so she grew up around dogs and horses. She went to college in Virginia and later earned her Doctorate in Higher Education. Nothing makes her happier than a Saturday filled with a good (strong) cup of coffee and a game of tennis.
In November 2013, we added Jackson the dog to our family. He's an energetic cocker spaniel who has the remarkable ability to snore louder than most humans. He's also wonderful with children and a great companion. Then, in April 2014, we welcomed Elizabeth to the world. She was born premature at 2 pounds, 15 ounces. She spent two months in the hospital growing bigger and stronger before she came home. It was a stressful time, but it reminded us of the importance of strength, resilience, and love. She's now a happy, healthy, and talkative two-year-old. She loves animals, singing songs, and playing in her sandbox. We've started talking to her about adding another member of our family and she shares our excitement.
Our Extended Family & Friends
We are fortunate to have strong relationships with our extended family. Ben's parents live an hour away, and Ashley's dad is close by as well. We see each of them multiple times each month. We miss Ashley's mom - we lost her to pancreatic cancer right after Elizabeth was born - but we cherish the memories and photos we have of her! Ben's three siblings - two brothers and a sister - are all active aunts and uncles to Elizabeth. We also have a great group of friends who we see regularly. We are lucky to have a community of people around us who have small children and serve as extended family for Elizabeth.
Our home is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac in a cozy neighborhood organized around a small lake. We have woods surrounding us and cows that are just down the hill. We enjoy our screened porch for meals with friends and our back patio and basement are favorites of Elizabeth's. Deer, birds, butterflies, and squirrels enjoy our yard as well!
Thank you for taking the time to hear about our family. If you'd like, we would love to chat with you about your plan for your child. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about us and our plans for the new member of our family.
